Saturday 21st June - walk *** – Levington Marina – sunny and hot.

I was laying in bed this morning checking if we got up early this time last year to see the Soltice sunrise, we didn’t it must have been the year before bit I noticed it was the Pin Mill Barge Race so checked it was on today so I messaged Maeva’s mum asking if they would like to head over to Levington Marina to see if they would like to watch? I worked out really well as their lovely plumber had come over to pull the render from the dinning room ceily after the plaster fell off last night making it very unsafe! Dan who orginally going to London to watch a band had to stay at home to help:( We picked Jay and Maeva up at 9.30 and headed over to the marina and parked near the bench where I windsurf from just at the barges where starting the race upriver at Pin Mill. Jay noticed I had nearly put my camera trug on three Oyster Catcher eggs laid on an old section of marina jetty, so we moved the van away so the birds could return to the nest and actually got a better spot. We set up the chairs and a boil of water for Maeva to splash about in and we had a wonderful morning in the sunshine with a cooling breeze coming off the River Orwell! The old barges slowly sailed past, always great to see, some old yachts and motor boats also left the marina making it all action on the Orwell! It was great to enjoy the peace and quiet here at the marina, good to get away from Felixstowe which was heaving! We did amble about the marina with Maeva, collecting water, watching the boats with a breeze in our faces and a trip to the lovely toilets and back along the tree lined path before returning home for lunch and Mag read every book in our box before her Dad came round for a shower as he was very dirty from ceiling stripping, they then all went home absolutely knackered!
